YOLO (2019 – 2023)

Adolescence is a key moment in everyone’s life and often one of the most creative, where energy overflows, and the limits of the body are tested. It is usually the age when one learns dance and desire. It is where the pleasure of moving to music that moves us is discovered, the pleasure of playful gazes (watching or being watched), and the pleasure of communicating through the language of the body. As a choreographic artist, I have constantly revisited this period of my own history. It is the age when I saw my first performances, which I would then try to reproduce the dances once back home. I would play the music at a very high volume and dance until exhaustion.

We invite a group of adolescents aged 13-15 to embody the fantasized images they have of themselves. These sometimes uncontrollable vital impulses, dreams, and ambitions that are often contested and denigrated, I want to delve into them with them. To stage them in their daily lives, but magnified by their desires, like superheroes: protagonists of their own stories, whether individual or collective.

Y.O.L.O. has been conducted on the scale of a host city (Reims, Rodez, Albi, Toulouse), but also on the basis of a cross-border exchange (Occitanie-Catalonia). It has been implemented over variable working periods ranging from 3 days to several weeks, mainly with young adolescents but also with mild disabilities (Health Path).
